Obituary of John E. Reed

John Erving Reed of San Diego California, left this world on July 10, 2018 to be with his beloved wife Ruthie who he missed so much. Formerly of Sunderland, John and Ruthie moved to San Diego in 1968 where they enjoyed the great weather and become patrons of the San Diego Zoo that they both loved so much. John was born December 30, 1930 to Geraldine Webb Reed Kushi and Ernest Dewey Reed in Lynn, Mass. He served in the United States Navy and made his home in Sunderland for many years where he worked for Multicolor in Florence. He retired from Rohr industries after 25 years, and in 1997, he joined the senior volunteer patrol in Bonita Calif. and logged in over 7,000 hours John is survived by his sister Claire Yezierski of Hadley, brothers James Reed and his wife Joyce of Pensacola Florida, Karle Kushi and his wife Joanie of Turners Falls, Kenneth Kushi and his wife Carol of Sunderland, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Ruthie, brothers Frank and Dewey Reed, sisters Shirley Lebaron, Sally Aldrich. There will be a graveside military service at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody, MA. on August 7th at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements are being made at Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home of Peabody MA.
