Obituary of Elaine M. De Lomba

Elaine M. (Toher) De Lomba, 76, of Danvers, died peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday afternoon at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Gordon M. De Lomba. Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Vincent) Toher. She was raised and educated earning a Nursing degree in Rhode Island, and later lived in Peabody, New Jersey and Georgia and has spent the last 20 years living in Danvers. Elaine was employed as a registered nurse at the Pilgrim Nursing Home in Peabody, then at Beverly Hospital in pediatrics for many years. From there, she continued pediatric nursing at West Jersey Hospital in New Jersey, then at Scottish Rite in Atlanta, GA before finally retiring back to Massachusetts to be back with her family. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed wintering with her husband Gordon in Del Ray Beach, Florida. She was a woman of faith who enjoyed cooking and her favorite endeavor was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons, Mark and his wife Kathy De Lomba of Danvers, Matthew and his long-time companion, Kathy Silva of Peabody, her daughter, Maureen “Rena” De Lomba of Danvers, her sister, Carol and her husband Tony Araujo of Del Ray Beach, FL, her beloved grandchildren, Danny and Karla De Lomba, Alyssa De Lomba and her long-time companion, Michael Ogden, Amy and Michael De Lomba, her great grandchild, Acelynn Ogden, all of Danvers. Her brother-in-law John De Lomba of RI, and her sisters-in-law, Elaine Moniz of RI, and Ruth De Lomba of Gladwyne, PA, and is also survived by her niece, Lynn and her husband Patrick Hayes of West Palm Beach, FL and her nephew, Paul Darling of Seekonk, MA. She was predeceased by her children, Michael, Melanie, Michelle, Martin and Monica De Lomba, and her brother-in-law, Paul De Lomba. Following cremation, her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 11 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Annunciation Church, Conant St, Danvers to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Burial services will be private.
