Obituary of Lawrence J. "Larry" Mallia
Lawrence J “Larry” Mallia, 92, of Danvers and formerly of Peabody, died Thursday morning at the Brudnick Center for Living in Peabody. He was the devoted husband of the late Catherine A “Tina” (Pisano) Mallia. He missed his wife dearly, but was grateful to the Brudnick Center for giving him the opportunity to spend his final years with his remaining living siblings. Born in Middlebury, VT, he was the son of the late Anthony and Jeanette (Gugliotta) Mallia. He was raised and educated in Peabody and has spent the last 18 years living in Danvers. He was a veteran of WW II who served with the United States Army. Larry owned and operated the Peabody Cash Market with his brother for over 30 years until 1978. Following that he worked as a meat cutter at Henry’s Market until his retirement a few years ago. Larry was a member of the Vittori Rocci Post in Beverly, American Legion Post 108, Knights of Columbus, Leo Council 508, and the American Citizen Club, all of Peabody. He loved watching golf, and the New York Yankees and some of his greatest memories were of traveling the world with Tina. Larry is survived by his son Lawrence J. Mallia of Raleigh, NC, his daughter Janet A. Bussone of Westborough, his sisters, Mary Cena, Georgia Southwick, Lucy O’Brien, and Carmen Wesela, all of Peabody, his beloved 4 grandchildren, Tina Bussone of Westborough, Thomas Bussone III of Boston, Kristen Mallia of Brighton, and Nicholas Mallia of Somerville, a great grandchild, Ava Bussone of Arlington, his sisters-in-law, Gracie Mallia and Grace Stansfield, both of Peabody, and also by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, George, John, Anthony, Joseph, and Samuel Mallia, and Marguerite Cullen. A private family Funeral was held on Monday at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Lynn.
