Obituary of Phyllis M. (O'Connor) Lally

Phyllis M. (O’Connor) Lally, 79, of Lynnfield, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2006 at the Lafayette Nursing Home in Marblehead. She was the wife of the late Martin Lally. She was born in Lynn on August 24, 1927, the daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary (McGeough) O’Connor. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School and later the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston. For many years she worked for her father, M.J. O’Connor at the Lewis St. Exchange and O’Connor Liquors. Later she and her sister Rita Olsen owned and operated the M.J. O’Connor Liquors on Chestnut St. in Lynn for 30 years before selling the family business. She then worked for her brother, Joseph O’Connor at Auto City in East Boston. Her most recent employment was at Emtex in Chelsea, Ma as an accounts manager. Phyllis enjoyed Golf with family and friends for many years at the Salem Country Club and also liked watching baseball, golf and tennis. Always an enjoyable part of her life was her love for her dogs, Butch, Goldie, Angel and recently Lucky. For several years she raised Golden Retrievers and the family was the beneficiary of her wonderful dogs. She is survived by a son, Timothy Lally of Stoughton, MA, her two grandchildren, Shaun Lally of Denver, Colorado and Breanna Lally of Lynnfield, a daughter-in-law, Kim and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Leo and Joseph O’Connor and Rita Olson. At the family request, her services will be private. Arrangements were under the direction of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home of Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
