Obituary of Mabel D. (Burnett) Cote

Mabel D. (Burnett) Cote, 91, of Salem, N.H. and formerly of Peabody, died on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Salem Haven Nursing Center, Salem, N.H. after a short illness with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Ludger C. “Lou” Cote who died in 2005 with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. She was born on December 7, 1926 in Peabody, MA, the daughter of the late John M. and Eva M. (Haddock) Burnett and had resided here most of her life before moving to Windham four years ago. Mabel had worked at the former Warren Five Savings Bank, Now TB Bank, for 30 years prior to her retirement in 1991. She had been an avid sports fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics and enjoyed watching them on the TV. She enjoyed doing needlework, knitting, and especially Japanese Bunka. She loved her family and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in- laws, Leonard and Lori Cote or Raymond, N.H. and Phil and Tina Cote of Danville, N.H., her grandchildren Derek Cote and his fiancé Angela Sarcione of Danville, NH, Ashley and Kyle Deal of Barnstable, MA and Chantal and Jonathan Smith of Manchester, NH, a great granddaughter Kara Cote, her sister-in-law Mary Cote of Salem, MA and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her nine siblings, John, William, Sam and Howard Burnett, Mary Krochmal, Grace Walters, Anne L’italien, Helen Crateau and Eleanor Dumas. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
