Obituary of Michael Stroumbos

Michael Stroumbos, 75, of Lynn, died unexpectedly on Saturday morning at Union Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Julie (Kallias) Stroumbos with whom he shared over 38 years of marriage. Born in Manchester, NH, he was the son of the late Harry and Rita (Avalakis) Stroumbos. He was raised and educated in Haverhill and upon his graduation enlisted with the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1967. He then attended Merrimac College and received his degree in 1978. Michael has lived in Lynn for the past 38 years and worked as purchase agent for many companies in the greater Boston Area before retiring from Lynn Ladder and Scaffolding. Michael enjoyed reading, cooking, doing yard work, dinning out, and loved talking about politics and old movies as well. Besides his loving wife of 38 years, he is survived by his brother, Arthur and his wife Linda Stroumbos of Windham, NH, his sister Eugenia Lefebvre of Manchester, NH, his brother and sisters-in-law, Doris and Nick Copoulos of Westwood, and Poppy and Lou Sotis of Peabody, and by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and also by 2 God Children. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Solomon. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to either Parkinson’s Fitness, 46 Brittania Circle, Salem, MA 01970 or St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, 54 South Common St, Lynn, MA 01902.
