Obituary of Mary Somes

Mary Somes, 89, formerly of Hingston St., died Tuesday morning at the Rosewood Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody following a brief illness. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Arthur C. and Agnes T. (Murphy) Somes. She lived in Peabody for most of her life and attended Peabody schools. She graduated from Peabody High School and the Salem Commercial School, the predecessor of Burdette Secretarial School. Miss Somes was employed as an Administration Assistant with the Eastman Gelatin Corporation in Peabody, and served as the Personnel Relations Secretary. She retired in 1977 after 20 years of service there. She was an active communicant at St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody. She is survived by: one nephew, Albert Somes of Danvers; two nieces, Joyce Somes Moineau of Virginia, and Sharon Cacchione of West Bridgewater, and many loving grandnieces and grandnephews. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 10 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 A.M. in St. John’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
