Obituary of Sean T. Maney

Sean T. Maney, 46 ROWLEY/ PEABODY – Sean T. Maney, 46, husband of Kara (Ramos) Maney of Rowley, died as a result of a boating accident in Ipswich on Monday August 20, 2018. Born in Salem, he was the son of James and Nancy (Champagne) Maney of Peabody and brother of Lori Maney of Beverly. He grew up in Wenham, and graduated from Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. He earned a degree in English from Tufts University, and participated in the Williams College-Mystic Seaport Maritime Studies Program. Sean began his career in marketing and public relations, and combined these skills with a desire to help others as the Director of Marketing & Public Relations at Mystic Valley Elder Services of Malden. He also founded Maney Communications, a marketing and consulting business. Sean had a strong sense of wanting to serve his community, and became an Emergency Medical Technician in 2011. He began his EMT career at Cataldo Ambulance progressing to his role as the Lead Field Training Officer and a Clinical Training Educator. Sean also continued to work one day a week on the ambulance in order to maintain his hands’ on clinical skills. In June 2018, he received the Star of Life Award by the American Ambulance Association. This award “celebrates the contributions of ambulance professionals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in service to their communities or the EMS Profession. The ocean was an integral part of Sean’s life. He was passionately devoted to boating and spending time on the ocean in any way he could. Sean taught sailing at the Manchester Sailing Association throughout high school and college. Sean was a member of the Ipswich Bay Yacht Club. He was an all-around athlete who enjoyed baseball, swimming, scuba diving, and running. He had an eclectic taste in music, and loved animals, especially his dogs. He will be remembered as a loving man, dedicated to his family and friends and cherished as a loving son, husband, brother, nephew, cousin and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Kara (Ramos) Maney of Rowley; his parents James and Nancy (Champagne) Maney of Peabody; his sister Lori Maney and her husband George Dwyer of Beverly; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a niece and a nephew. Sean will be terribly missed by his faithful yellow labs, Dempsey & Donnelly. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a Funeral Service Liturgy on Monday August 27, 2018 at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 – 6 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations may made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust at www.dav.org or Save a Lab Labrador Retriever Rescue, www.savealabrescue.org.
