Obituary of Brian Joseph O'Dowd

Brian Joseph O’ Dowd, 48, of Salem, Director Of Golf at the Rowley Country Club in Rowley, Ma. died unexpectedly Thursday At the Salem Hospital. He was the son of James and Mary (Lyons) O’ Dowd of Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School in 1973 . He then attended The Mass College of Pharmacy for 3 years and later graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from Salem State College. He first started working in Sales for the Brystal-Myers Co. out of the Philadelphia office for 5 years. He then was employed With the Ranahan & Mahoney Company of New Jersey for 10 years before moving Back to Salem 5 years ago. He had been a teaching pro at Rowley Country Club For 4 years and this year was made the Director of Golf there. He also enjoyed skiing and being with his family. Surviving him besides his parents of Salem are a sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Peabody Deputy Fire Chief John Deangelo of West Peabody; a niece Mary Ann Woodside of Delphin, N.J. and a nephew, John Deangelo of New Jersey and many Cousins. He was the brother of the late Patricia O’ Dowd. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. from the Cahill-Brodeur Facility at 20 Church St., Peabody of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody/Salem line at 9:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are Kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Charity of your choice.
