Obituary of Virginia A. (Godin) Barnes

Virginia A. (Godin) Barnes, 71, of Peabody, passed away on Thursday. August 23, 2018 at her home surrounded by her children and siblings. Virginia was diagnosed at an early age with a liver disease that she battled courageously until the very end. “Mimi”, as she was known was loved by all lucky enough to know her. She was born on May 24, 1947 in Revere, MA to the late Henry and Elizabeth (D’Entremont) Godin and was one of seven children; Marie Clonan and her husband Bob of Toms River, NJ, the late Angeline Martin and her husband Greg of Beverly, William Godin of Ft. Pierce, FL, the late Linda Mitchell of Peabody, Victorine Allyn and her husband Kim of Beverly and Janice Godin of Peabody. Ginny was a devoted mother to Bernadette and Denny Price of Peabody, Charles and Lorinda Rives of Springhill, TN and Sydney C. Barnes 111 of Weare NH. In addition to raising her three children, Virginia was dedicated to volunteering her time to the community. She was a life member of the VFW Post 1011 Ladies Auxiliary of Peabody. MiMi is also survived by her grandchildren, Charlien Price of Wakefield, Roberta Price of Peabody and Tyler and Broc Rivers of Springhill, Tn. She also has many step-brothers and a sister who hold a special place in her heart as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved very dearly. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 28, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral service will be held there on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
