Obituary of Richard M. Franco

Richard M. Franco, 90 PEABODY – Richard M. Franco, 90, beloved husband of Marguerite “Peggy” (Comeau) Franco, died peacefully on Saturday evening August 25, 2018, following an extended illness. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John and Fernandina (Naciamento) Franco. Mr. Franco served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an avid Patriots and Bruins fan. Richard was skilled at carpentry, and did most of his home remodeling. He worked at the Boston Naval Shipyard until its closing. He was instrumental in preparing for its closing as he managed the shipment of all disposed heavy equipment during its departure in the 1970’s. As a result, demonstrating his expertise in Packaging procedures related to cost analysis, technical analysis of reimbursements, and regulatory policy, he was transferred to the Defense Contract Administration Services/Boston (DCASMA) where he worked until his retirement in 1986. He is survived by his wife Marguerite ‘Peggy” Franco, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage; a sister Maria Giunta of Everett, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John Franco, Alda Palermo, Frederick Franco and Ralph Franco. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday August 31, 2018 for a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., Peabody, followed by urn burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody with Military Honors. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
