Obituary of Margaret "June" Mills

Margaret “June” Mills, 92, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on Friday, August 31. She was born on November 15, 1925. She was raised by her mother Eleanor Burke and her grandparents, graduation from East Boston High School. When her brother James went in the Army during WWII, June began working as a switchboard operator to help support her family. June met the love of her life, Robert during that time, then married and moved to Peabody so her children would have a nice home with lots of room to play. June enjoyed meeting new people, and had tremendous compassion for the elderly. When the children were grown, she began her twenty-year career with the Peabody Council on Aging. June also had a deep love of animals, having many dogs, cats, birds, and more throughout her life. She enjoyed bowling in a league, painting, swimming, and baking treats for friends and family. June leaves behind a son, Stephen Mills, his wife Karen Stewart of Titusville, PA and their sons Joshua and Randy Smith; a daughter Cheryl and her husband Donald Cunha of Peabody, and their children, Stephanie Thompson, Hannah and her husband Mike Indrisano and Samuel Cunha, and her long-time best friend Barbara Skidgell of Peabody. She was predeceased by her loving husband Robert, her brother James Burke, and her in-laws, Arnold Mills and Dorothy Bolton. A Graveside service will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM at the family lot in Cedar Grove Cemetery, 100 R Cedar Grove Ave to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association MA/NH Chapter, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
