Obituary of George Reed Lynch

George R. Lynch, 85, of Peabody, died early Tuesday Morning at the Salem Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Helen P. (Bodge) Lynch with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. He was born in East Millinocket, Maine on March 23, 1918, the son of the late Frederick and Lois Ann (York) Lynch and was raised and educated there before moving to Peabody 57 years ago. He enlisted in the US Army in 1942 and served in the European Theatre and in the Rhineland campaigns prior to his discharge in 1946. Following his discharge, he settled in Peabody and had been a machinist at the General Radio Co. for 23 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the St. John’ s Holy Name Society and was an avid reader. He also enjoyed gardening and being with his family. Surviving him besides his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, George and Kathleen Lynch of Peabody, a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Michael Mannix of Peabody; a sister, Kathryn Connors of Beverly, 4 grandchildren, Laura Mannix of Salem and Lisa Mannix of Somerville, Kelly and Kimberly Lynch both of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edward and Leo Lynch. His Funeral will Be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, at the 20 Church St Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4:00 untill 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
