Obituary of Leo A. Tanguay

Leo A. Tanguay, 87 PEABODY – Leo A. Tanguay, 87, beloved husband of Helen (Bourgoin) Tanguay, died peacefully on Friday September 7, 2018 at the Rosewood Skilled Nursing Center in Peabody, after a brief illness. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Alfred and Germaine (Caron) Tanguay. He grew up in Salem, and graduated from Salem High School. He attended North Shore Community College and Northeastern University. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Tanguay had gifted woodworking skills, and enjoyed his career as a General Contractor. He also worked for a short time at United Shoe in Beverly, and longtime working for the Peabody Historical Society and Brooksby Farm in Peabody. Leo was a member of the Peabody Lions Club. He used his skills making doll houses that he would donate for charitable fund raisers, and for his grandchildren. He was passionately devoted to his family. He will be remembered as a faithful husband, father, grandfather and friend who had a generous, giving spirit with much humility. He is survived by his wife Helen (Bourgoin) Tanguay of Peabody, with whom he shared 61 loving years of marriage; two sons and two daughters, Mark Tanguay of Peabody, Paul Tanguay of Townsend, Pamela Miller of Merrimac, MA and Gail Goodwin of Salem; 8 grandchildren, Jonathan and Jennifer Tanguay, Blake, Dane, Julia and Emily Miller, and Lindsay and Jamie Goodwin, and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Tuesday September 11, 2018 from 10:30 AM – 12 Noon, followed by a Funeral Service at 12 Noon in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the Peabody Historical Society, Washington St., Peabody.
