Obituary of Rita G. (Linehan) Griffin

Rita G (Linehan) Griffin, 95, of Peabody, died Sunday evening at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Raymond J. Griffin. Born in Swampscott, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Eva (Vaillencour) Linehan. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1940. She has lived in Peabody for the past 32 years. Rita loved traveling, reading, jigsaw puzzles and she loved National Parks and the western United States. She was devoted to her husband and children and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her son, Robert J. Griffin of Salem, her nephews, Stephen Griffin of Beverly, Gary S. Griffin of Beverly and Terrence Griffin of Beverly, Dale Griffin of New Hartford, NY, Patrick Griffin of Severn, MD, and John Griffin of Tallahassee, FL. She was predeceased by her daughter Carol A Griffin, her sister, Marjorie R. Griffin and her nephew, Michael Griffin. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on two nights, both Thursday and Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
