Obituary of Mary S (Silva) Almeida

Mary S. (Silva) Almeida, 92, of Peabody, died Monday morning at the Rosewood Nursing Home, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Antonio G. Almeida. Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Cyreno and Mary (Lima) Silva. At the age of six months, she immigrated to the United States and had lived in Peabody her entire life. Prior to her retirement a few years ago, she worked as an independent business woman who ran and operated her own business, Leo’ s Tap, in Peabody for over 35 years. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Gerald Brauninger of Peabody, a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Zilda Silva of Peabody, a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Almeida of Danvers and was the grandmother of seven very accomplished grandchildren of whom she was very proud of, Amy, Tony, Beth, John, and Scott Almeida, and Stephen and Maryellen Brauninger, she also was the great grandmother of Michael and Abby Brauninger and Audrey Almeida. She was the mother of the late Leo Almeida. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary’ s name may be made to the Danvers Senior Center, 25 Stone St., Danvers, Ma 01923.
