Obituary of John G Provas

John G. Provas, 92 PEABODY – John G. Provas, 92, beloved husband of the late Mary (Thomas) Provas, died unexpectedly on Thursday September 20, 2018 at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late George and Sultana (Kapateneli) Provas. He lived and grew up in the South End of Boston and Watertown where he graduated high school, and lived in Peabody and in Georgetown. He enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. John enjoyed baseball and watching the Boston Red Sox. He was most passionately devoted to his family and faith as a Member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Kathy and George Poulopoulos of Boxford; five grandchildren, Theo, Deme, Maria, Vanna and Pamela; two great-grandchildren, Nikoleta and Strati; a sister Mary Tsoukalas of Yarmouth, and several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Costa Provas and Irene Provas. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a brief visitation on Monday September 24, 2018 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown. Memorial donations may be made to Perkins School for the Blind, 175 N Beacon St, Watertown, MA 02472.
