Obituary of Sylvia Helmi (Niemi) Hill

Sylvia Helmi (Niemi) Hill PEABODY—Sylvia Helmi (Niemi) Hill, 94, beloved wife of the late Edward Hill, died Saturday morning at the Wingate at Haverhill Nursing Home in Haverhill following a long illness. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Nestor P. and Hilma (Johannson) Niemi. She lived on the North Shore for most of her life, mostly in Danvers and Peabody, besides a short time in Wisconsin when first married and in Haverhill for the last four years. She graduated from Danvers High School. Mrs. Hill was a very active member at St. John Lutheran Church in Peabody for all her life. She is survived by: two daughters and sons-in-law, Florence & Robert Walsh of Hampstead, NH and Virginia & James Slattery of Peabody; three grandchildren, Edward & Jannelle Walsh of Fremont, NH, James F. & Michelle Slattery of Kingston, NH, and Caroline & Edwin Sorell of Peabody; five great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; a nephew, Milo Foss of Duluth, MN, and a cousin, Jorma Vappula of Helsinki, Finland. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Perala and nieces Ellen Gernier and Murial Hall. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 12 Noon from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, new 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 1 PM in St. John Lutheran Church, Ellsworth Rd., Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody
