Obituary of Nellie J. (Fitzherbert) Serino

Nellie J. (Fitzherbert) Serino, 72 years of Peabody, wife of the late Angelo A. Serino, died Thursday at the Salem Hospital in Salem after a brief illness. Mrs. Serino was born April 11, 1931 in Riviere des Chute, New Brunswick Canada, daughter of the late Freeman and Addie (Tompkins) Fitzherbert. She was raised and educated in New Brunswick. She immigrated to the United States in 1950 living in Lynn for a few years, then making her home in Peabody where she resided for most of her life. Mrs. Serino was an assistant manager for 8 years at the former Baker Shoe Store at the North Shore Shopping Center in Peabody, Richards Department Store in Salem for 15 years and prior to her retirement she was employed at St. Mary’ s Parish in Lynn. She volunteered and was quite active with different activities at St. Thomas School while raising her family. She was also involved with the Women’ s Group and the Catholic Family Organization at St. Thomas Parish. She enjoyed sewing, softball and reading. She is survived by 3 daughters; Leanna J. Faneuf of FL, Linda M. Lambert of NH and Laurie A. Serino of Danvers; 5 sons, Samuel M. Serino of Somerville, Gary E. Serino of ME, Anthony R. Serino of Saugus, Ernest T. Serino of Beverly and Steven G. Serino of Salem; 13 grandchildren, Jess, T.J., Bryce, Cali, Ross, Jeffrey, Ricky, Deanna, Spenser, Jaclyn, Riley, Alexandra and Dominic; a brother and 3 sisters living in Canada and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday at 9 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem - Peabody line. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. At her request there will be no visiting hours. Arrangements by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody. Committal of ashes will be private.
