Obituary of Catherine Panopoulos

Catherine Panopoulos, 80 of Peabody. Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Saturday, October 13, 2018 following a brief illness. Fondly known as "Yia Yia", Catherine was a lifelong resident of Peabody. Born in Egypt, she was the daughter of the late Isidoris and Mary (Theodorakis) Sarantis. Besides being a caring housewife, Catherine was also employed for over 20 years as a hairdresser at John's hair salon in Peabody before she retired. Catherine enjoyed raising her children and later spending quality time with her Grandchildren and Great grandchildren. With a passion for Dancing and Bingo, Catherine enjoyed a night of Greek Dance the night before her passing. Catherine is survived by her loving son, George and his wife Kimberly Panopoulos of Peabody, her two sisters, Dora Tsimounis of Salem, Jeanie Theriault of Salem, her brother Nicholas Sarantis, her beloved 8 Grandchildren, Anthony Wheeler, Katrina Odoardi, Michael DiFrancisco, Brittany Soares, Jessica Demeule, Kori Connors, Anthony Panopoulos and George Panopoulos Jr., she is also survived by 12 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two daughters, Anastasia Demeule, Maria Odoardi and her two brothers Demetrios and George Sarantis. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at the Abbott House in Lynn. Especially, Diane Flynn, Susan DLuties, Mary Smith and Toni Gram. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody FOLLOWED by her Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
