Obituary of Sr Marian P Galvin, SND

Surrounded by her family and Sisters of Notre Dame, Sister Marian Galvin, SNDdeN, died on Wednesday October 10 at the Notre Dame Health Center, Worcester, MA. Both family and Sisters had been important to Sr. Marian as she lived out her vowed life since her 1954 entrance. Her professional preparation for ministry included a BA from Emmanuel College and an MA from Northeastern University. These equipped her for teaching in SND staffed schools in East Boston, Hudson, No. Weymouth, Salem, Peabody, Woburn and Beverly. Sr. Marian also ministered in parishes in Alabama and Rhode Island. Always a lively individual, Sr. Marian was the second oldest child born to Patrick and Lillian Galvin in Somerville, MA, on April 20, 1935. She is survived by her sister Marilyn Saunders of Woburn, brothers Gerald of Yarmouthport, James of Braintree and many attentive nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brothers John, William and Kevin. As Sr. Marian requested, her Services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Our Lady of Queen Chapel in Ipswich. The visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, a Prayer Service at 2:00 PM and the Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sr. Marian’s to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, 30 Jeffreys Neck Rd, Ipswich, MA 01938.
