Obituary of Dorothy Theresa Procopio

Dorothy Theresa Procopio, 79, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening at her home surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Domenic A. Procopio. Born in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (DiBello) Tucci. She was raised and educated in East Boston, and was a graduate of East Boston High School, class of 1956. She has lived in Peabody for the past 56 years. Dorothy worked as a secretary at the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody and also for the treasurer’s office at Peabody city hall before she retired years ago. Dorothy was an avid roller skater and belonged to a group in Saugus, she enjoyed going to lunch with family and friends, dancing and crocheting. She was a member of the Pink Ladies Club in East Boston, but her favorite endeavor was spending time with her family and sharing in all of their endeavors. She will be dearly missed. Dorothy is survived by her four devoted daughters and their spouses, Betty and Ken Peavey, Dorothy and Steve Apostolides, Donna and Richard Muscato, all of Peabody and Laura and Mark Ruscio of Reading, her beloved 10 grandchildren, Stephen Apostolides, Michael and Katrina Sauchuk, Jennifer and Keith Garafola, Nick Apostolides, Julie and Jad Chehab, Stephanie Muscato, Bianca Muscato, David Apostolides, and Markie and Gina Ruscio, also by her 5 great grandchildren, Liana, Dom, Angelo, Hunter, and Hudson and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Georgie Aiello and Marie Mandracchia. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to VNA Hospice and Palliative Care, 100 Trade Center, Woburn, MA 01801.
