Obituary of Manuel F. Bettencourt

Manuel F. Bettencourt, 80, of Peabody, passed away unexpectedly Friday Morning at the Lahey Medical Center in Peabody. Manuel was born on March 25, 1938, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, son of the late Verissimo and Senhorinha (Silva) Bettencourt. He was raised and educated there prior to emigrating to the United States. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a machine operator for Sylvania. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody. He will be missed by all those who knew him. He is survived by his siblings, Else Bettencourt of Andover, Joseph Bettencourt of Billerica, Maria Nuttal of Peabody, and Noelia Ortins of Peabody, his nieces and nephews; Anthony, Christopher, Jason, Steven, David, Alcine, Myra, Lala, Robert, Patricia, and Christina. A visitation will be held on Sunday October 28, from 2-6PM. at the Conway, Cahill- Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody. His funeral will be held on Monday, October 29 at 8AM the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
