John E. “Jack” Pierce, Sr., 85 LYNNFIELD – Jack Pierce, Sr., 85, devoted husband of June (Harrington) Pierce, died peacefully at his home early Sunday morning October 21, 2018, while in the comforting presence of his family. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late William F. “Frank” Pierce, Sr. and Sarah E. “Dolly” (Powers) Pierce. Jack grew up in Lynn where he attended local schools, and graduated from St. Mary’s Boys Catholic High School, Class of 1951. Jack served in the United States Army during the Korean War before embarking on a career as an electrician. As a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 103, he recently received special recognition for his 62 years of membership. Jack completed his professional life as a Resident Engineer with the M.B.T.A. Anyone who was a friend of Jack’s knew him as the consummate “builder.” He was never happier than when he was working on one of his many “projects,” especially at his beloved home on Mandalay Drive in Peabody, always known as “the house that Jack built.” A gifted athlete, he enjoyed many sports. He was a standout athlete at St. Mary’s, lettering in hockey, baseball and football. He enjoyed many rounds of golf at his Winter home in Naples, Florida, and spent years supporting his children and grandchildren in their many activities. Jack will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife, June Harrington Pierce of Lynnfield formerly of Peabody, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage, renewing their vows this past Summer in a garden in Kinsale, Ireland, surrounded by their children and grandchildren; his three sons and a daughter, John E. Pierce, Jr. of Peabody, Kevin Pierce and his wife Deborah Williamson Pierce of Peabody, Alison Pierce Connelly and her husband John Connelly of Lynnfield, and Timothy Pierce and his wife Amy Seigenthaler of Nashville, TN; 11 grandchildren, two sisters-in-law Elda Pierce of Peabody and Janice Underhill of Omaha, NE, and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late William F. Pierce, Jr. of Peabody. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Mass honoring his life on Saturday October 27, 2018 at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield followed by a reception.
