Obituary of Phyllis S. (Starr) Boyd
Phyllis S. (Starr) Boyd, 88 PEABODY – Phyllis S. (Starr) Boyd, 88, beloved wife of the late Ronald B. Boyd, Jr., died peacefully on Wednesday October 31, 2018 at the Ledgewood Skilled Nursing & Rehab Facility in Beverly, following an extended illness. Born in Norristown, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Kathryn (Widger) Starr, and graduated from Norristown High School, Class of 1947. She moved to the North Shore, first living in Salem before moving to Peabody where she lived for over 50 years. She enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War, and served in the Norfolk, VA Naval Base where she would meet her husband. Phyllis worked as a secretary with Salem Welding and Bergeron Plumbing for many years before retiring. Phyllis had a wonderful, giving spirit and was a woman with deep faith and devotion. She was active at her parish of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody as a member and Past Prefect for the Ladies Sodality. She was a member of the American Veterans of Foreign Wars, Amvets Post 53 of Salem, active in the Peabody Golden Agers, the Peabody Senior Center, sang in choirs and was an avid New England Patriots fan. She was a member of the Stroke Survivors Club, Mothers of Multiples Club, and volunteered her gifts of kindness to numerous organizations. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passionate about spending time with family and friends, and always willing to help anyone. She and her family are very grateful and supportive of the work at the Trask Adult Day Care at the Torigian Life Center in Peabody. She is survived by six children, Peggy Innocenti and her husband Eric of Clifton, ME, Nancy Green and her late husband William of Rowley, David Boyd of Peabody, Janet Puleo and her husband Larry of Salem, Judy Gerome and her husband Jack of Peabody, and Ron Boyd and his wife Lorraine of Peabody; grandmother of Thor Innocenti, Kira Innocenti and her fiance Glory Watson, Ryan Green, David Boyd and his partner Kim Gannon, Lauren Puleo, Jennifer Gerome and her partner Mike Bourgeois, Mike Gerome and his wife Cynthia, George Hartney and his partner Tasha Reilly; great-grandchildren Jameson Boyd, Austin Bourgeois, Aubree and Thomas Hartney; two sisters, Elizabeth Booz and her wife Roberta Erskine of Reading, PA and Kathy Starr, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Evelyn Smith and William Starr, and predeceased by her great-grandson Aaron Kane Boyd and grandson Thomas Hartney and her dog Gus. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Monday November 5, 2018 at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 – 6 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to the Trask Adult Day Care Center at Torigian Community Life Center, 75 Central St., Peabody, MA 01960.
