Obituary of Anna Tournas

Anna Tournas, 93, of Peabody, passed away peacefully Sunday October 28, 2018 surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late William Tournas. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of William and Victoria (Campos) Kokalis. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School. Anna was an executive secretary for GTE Sylvania in Salem and Danvers for over thirty five years. Over the course of her career at Sylvania, she enjoyed teaching Greek dancing to her co-workers during lunch hours. A life-long member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Anna, in her younger years, regularly participated in church functions, festivals, and activities. She was also member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society. Later in life, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading novels, watching the Food Network, and visiting the Torigian Senior Center in Peabody, but her favorite endeavor was spending time with her family, especially her three granddaughters. Anna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Al and Kathleen Tournas of Westborough, her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Thomas Leahy, Jr of South Berwick, ME, her beloved granddaughters, Julianne and Amy Tournas and Katie Leahy, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Salvo of Somerville. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:30 AM at St. Vasilios Church to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
