Obituary of Rose (Kokoras) Machakos

Rose (Kokoras) Machakos, 86, of Peabody wife of the late Andrew Machakos, died Tuesday evening at the Rosewood Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Peabody. Mrs. Machakos was born on August 30, 1919 in Peabody daughter of the late Nicholas and Theodora (Triantafillou) Kokoras. She was raised and educated in Peabody and a lifelong resident of the city. Mrs. Machakos was employed as an assembler at GTE Sylvania in Salem for 30 years. Her entire life revolved around her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed baking Greek pastries for everyone and cooking. She was also a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church and the Daughters of Penelope. She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Terry of Beverly; a sister, Victoria Kokoras of Peabody; 5 grandchildren, Amy Caron, James, Ronald and Jeffrey Machakos and Ted Valaskatgis; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Her son James Machakos and her siblings Charles, Anthony, James, John and William Kokoras predeceased her. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., new location, Peabody followed by a service at 10 a.m. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101A First Ave., Suite 6, Waltham MA 02451.
