Obituary of Fernando Rodriguez

Fernando Rodriguez SALEM—Fernando Rodriguez, 58, beloved husband of Rita (Jalbert) Rodriguez of Salem, died Saturday afternoon at his home following a long illness. Born in Carguas, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Primativa (Galarza) Rodriguez and the late Felix Rodriguez. He lived there in his youth and attended schools there. He came to live in New England at age 17, living in Connecticut for a short time, then lived in Salem for over 40 years. Mr. Rodriguez was a Test Operator at Sertech in Watertown for many years before that company closed. He enjoyed gatherings of family and friends, was an animal lover—especially cats, was an avid sports fan. He loved baseball the most and was a loyal Yankee fan. He will be missed by his family, including his wife, Rita (Jalbert) Rodriguez of Salem, with whom he shared 26 years of marriage; a daughter, Christina “Chrissy” Rodriguez of Salem; 15 brothers and sisters, including: Alcides, Pablo, Felix, Domingo, Jose, Orlando, Eduardo, Hiram, Eriberto, Leonor, Ana, Mercedes, Hilda, Irma, and Edna; enjoyed a close relationship with his wife’s brothers and sisters, Ms. Tessy Bennett, Mr. John Jalbert, Ms. Mary Jalbert, Mr. & Mrs. Michael Bouchard, and Mr. & Mrs. Leo Jalbert. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Erasmo and Angel. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to a visitation on Saturday from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, NEW location at 82 Lynn St., followed by a Funeral Service at 2:30 P.M.
