Obituary of Edward Patrick Bloch
Edward P. Bloch, 92, of Lynn, MA died peacefully on Friday, November 23 at the Kaplan Family Hospice house in Danvers with his family by his side after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of 68 years to the late Geraldine J. (Mc Mahon) Bloch who died in 2016. He was born in Lynn, MA on March 26, 1926, the son of the late Antoni and Bronislawa (Talarski) Bloch and was a lifelong resident of Lynn. He entered the US Navy during WW 11 serving as a gunner on the Merchant Marine ships before his discharge. Upon his return he was a machinist at the General Electric Company river works plant for over 35 years prior to his retirement in 1988. Ed had been a member of the Knights of Columbus in Saugus for many years before moving to the Lynn council. He was also a member of the PLAV Post 56 of Lynn, and called bingo for many years at the Saint Michaels Hall.. He and his wife enjoyed going dancing and playing cards on Saturday nights for many years. The family took memorable trips to Foxwoods in CT to celebrate birthdays. After retirement Ed discovered a love of wood working. Small carvings of butterflies and animals and shamrocks to hold Bingo cards that were colorfully painted. His artwork was given out freely to all and could be found all over the city from restaurants he frequented to banks he did business with. Ed’s love of cribbage and people led him to join the Polish Club of Danvers with his daughter two years ago. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Sean Patrick and Marzena Bloch of Randolph, Thomas Anthony and Cheryl Bloch of Derry, NH, Blanche and Raymond Rogalski of Danvers and Cynthia and Kevin Plunkett of Dedham, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church So. Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn.
