Obituary of Paul Sullivan
Paul Sullivan, “Sully”, 65, of Peabody and formerly of Melrose, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday afternoon at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Maria A. (Appolloni) Sullivan with whom he shared over 35 years of marriage. Born in Stoneham, he was the son of Barbara Ann (McManus) Sullivan of Melrose and the late Michael J. Sullivan. He was raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1971. Upon marrying his wife Maria, they moved to Peabody where they have resided for the past 35 years. Paul was employed for many years as an industrial salesman and for the past 10 years he worked at MIT in Cambridge in their facilities department before his illness this past May. Paul played hockey for Melrose High School and continued playing hockey and golf throughout his adult life. He was a member of the Melrose Fish and Game Club and the Italian Community Center in Beverly. He enjoyed coaching his son in youth sports in the City of Peabody as a hockey, soccer, and baseball coach. He loved his family and friends dearly, and enjoyed spending time with them. Paul also enjoyed his annual cruise to Bermuda, vacationing in Wells, ME with his family, and being outdoors and tending to his garden. Besides his loving wife, Paul is survived by his son Brian and his wife Dana Sullivan of Boston, his mother Barbara Ann Sullivan of Melrose, his three brothers, Michael P. and his wife Maria Sullivan of Ponte Vedra, FL, Daniel Sullivan of Wells, ME, and Lawrence Sullivan of Melrose, his sister, Elaine and her husband Gary Dixon of Lynn, his brother-in-law, Donald McLaughlin of Salem, NH, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Bailey. He was predeceased by his siblings, Stephen Sullivan and Nancy McLaughlin. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday November 29th at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday November 28th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM.
