Obituary of Maria Candida (Brasil) Sousa

Maria Candida (Brasil) Sousa, 92. of Peabody, died peacefully on Sunday November 25, 2018 at the Care One Nursing Center in Peabody with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Jose J. Sousa. She was born in the Azores, Portugal on April 13, 1926, the daughter of the late Avelino and Candida (Toste) Brasil and was raised there before moving to Peabody. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and enjoyed doing crocheting and knitting. She is survived by her children and their spouses, George Sousa and his companion Elaine McDonough, Avelino and Maria Emilia Sousa, Gilda and Norberto Silva and Fatima and Manuel Lima all of Peabody and Luciano Sousa of Portugal, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Cristine Sousa Fidalgo and was predeceased by a brother and sister. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 8:00 AM from the funeral home followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church,50 Walsh Ave, Peabody at 9:00 AM.
