Obituary of Maria L. Azevedo

Maria L Azevedo, 85, of Peabody, died early Monday morning at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Antonio F. Azevedo. Born in Seia, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Maria Batista. She was raised and educated in Lisbon, Portugal and in 1969 immigrated to the United States and has been a resident of Peabody for the past 49 years. Maria worked for over 35 years as a Nurse’s Aide at Salem Hospital until her retirement a few years ago. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, but her favorite endeavor was spending time with her family and later her beloved grandchildren. Maria is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Kristy Azevedo and R. Paul and Kristin Azevedo, all of Texas, her daughter, Rose Azevedo of Peabody, and by her beloved five grandchildren, Brian, Michael, Meghan, Ashley, and William Azevedo. Following cremation, her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial services will be private.
