Obituary of Maria G. Pereira

Maria G. (Cunha) Pereira, 82, of Peabody, passed away Friday morning at her residence with her family by her side, following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Luis Pereira. Maria was born on April 7, 1936 in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal. She was the daughter of the late Clorencio Cunha and Aurora da Cunha as well as the sister of the late Ricardo Cunha. She was raised and educated there until coming to the United States in 1967. While living in the United States she was a landlord for many rental properties that she owned with her husband. It was something she took a lot of pride in and enjoyed and was known to be a hard worker. She loved gardening and celebrating her favorite holiday, Christmas. She was a woman of faith and she prayed the rosary daily and was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody. Most importantly, she enjoyed being in the company of her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Besides her loving husband she is survived by her daughters, Helen Schroeder & her husband Richard of St. Louis, MO and Ana Maria Pena & her husband Jose of Middleton, 7 grandchildren, 4 great grand children and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 4 from 5-8P.M. at the Conway, Cahill- Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 5 at 9:30A.M. in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody at 10:30 A.M. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
