Obituary of James Peter Speliotis

James Peter “Jim” Speliotis, 67, of Peabody, died peacefully Sunday morning, December 2, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family after a 2-year illness. He was the devoted husband of Sandra (Bettencourt) Speliotis with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. He was born in Lowell, MA on April 2, 1951, the son of the late Peter and Viola (Baltoumas) Speliotis and was raised in Salem MA. He was a graduate of Salem High School in 1969 and played the alto clarinet in the High School Band. He later graduated from Salem State College in 1973 and began working in the X Ray department at Salem Hospital. He later became a Block Fabricator for cancer patients there and retired after 40 years at NSMC. Jim enjoyed scale modeling since his youth and was a member and former secretary of the North Shore Modelers for many years. He had built many models of cars, buildings and houses to scale. He is survived by his wife, Sandra of Peabody, a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew James and Aderonke Speliotis of Peabody, a brother and sister-in-law, George and Deena Speliotis, and a nephew Peter Speliotis all of Tewksbury, and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Bettencourt of Peabody. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 6 from 4:00 until 8:00PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody, MA 01960. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:30 AM in the Funeral Home with Rev. Grant Hoofnagle officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, 30 Grove St., Salem, MA 01970.
