Obituary of Robert A. Ditty Sr.

Robert A. Ditty Sr., 86, of Peabody, died Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Masconomet Nursing Center in Topsfield, MA after a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Maria P. (Bugl) Ditty with whom he shared almost 63 years of marriage. He was born in Salem MA on November 19, 1932, the son of the late Ralph and Camilla (Christiansen) Ditty and was raised and educated there graduating from Salem High School in 1950. Robert entered the US Army in June of 1953 and served in the Korean War and later in the Army reserves before being discharged in 1961. He had been an electronic technician at the Western Electric Co. in North Andover for 27 years before retiring in 1988. He received an associate degree from North Shore Community College in Beverly. Robert and his wife and family enjoyed travelling taking trips to many states in the United States and also in Europe. He also enjoyed taking his motor home trip to Alaska. He was an outdoorsman that liked to hunt for Moose and go fishing and had a love of animals. Robert enjoyed communications on his Ham Radio and CB Radio , but his most precious time was spent being with his family. He is survived by his wife, Maria of Peabody, a daughter, Christina M. McCarthy of Peabody, his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert A. and Susan M. Ditty Jr. of Lynn and David E. and Mary E. Ditty of Groveland, his grandchildren, James V., Robert A. 111, David J. and Andrea M. Ditty and Derek L. and Jason R. McCarthy, his great grandchildren Colin Burns and Aiden Lavin and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Lisa M. Ditty, the brother of the late Ralph Ditty Jr. and the grandfather of the late jill E. Ditty. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 9:00 until 11:00 AM at the Conway,Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility followed by Services there at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer,s Association of MA/NH 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 in his memory.
