Obituary of Linda S (Slade) Schmink

Linda S (Slade) Schmink, 78, of Beverly, died Wednesday evening at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Melrose, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Winifred (Pratt) Slade. She was raised and educated in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, class of 1958. She later lived in Danvers for many years and has lived in Beverly for the past 13 years. She continued her education at the University of Rhode Island for two years, and then attended and graduated from the Beth Israel Hospital School of Nursing. Linda was employed with several hospitals throughout the North Shore and was the head nurse of IU Therapy at Beverly Hospital for several years. She also worked for many nursing homes and before she retired, she worked at day care centers in Beverly and Gloucester. Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and was an avid sports fan of the Bruins, Red Sox, and Patriots. Linda is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Janet Schmink of Danvers and Mark and Martha Schmink of Rockport, her three grandchildren Kelsey Schmink of Rockport and Tyler and Mackenzie Schmink of Danvers. She was predeceased by her brother Richard Slade. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 until 11:00 AM followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
