Obituary of Helda (da Cunha Melo) Medina

Helda (da Cunha Melo) Medina, 91, of Peabody died on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Ledgewood Nursing Center in Beverly. She was the wife of the late Serafim Eiro Medina who died in 2007. She was born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal on December 23, 1927, the daughter of the late Jose de Melo Jr. and Ricarda (Amelia) Melo da Cunha and was raised there before emigrating to the United States in 1967. She had been employed at the former GTE Sylvania at the Sylvan St., Danvers plant for over 20 years prior to her retirement. She had been an active member of Our lady of Fatima Church and also belonged to Our Lady of Help Society. She was devoted to her family. She is survived by her sons, Roy Medina of Pepperell, MA and Joseph Medina of Peabody, MA, a sister, Erzulina Silva of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Reinaldo da Cunha Melo, A Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., facility. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 am from the funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Walsh Ave, Peabody at 9:00 AM.
