Obituary of Ida I. (D'Amico) Cottone

Ida I. (D’Amico) Cottone, 81, of West Peabody, died Wednesday at her home surrounded by her family after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Mario P. Cottone. She was born in East Boston on February 12, 1925, the daughter of the late Antonio and Antonietta (Antonioli) D’Amico and was educated and raised there before moving to Peabody in 1961. She had been a seamstress with the Picariello and Singer Company of East Boston for 30 years prior to her retirement. While in Peabody she was a member and past president of the Peabody Ladies Lodge of the Sons of Italy and was very active in the Alhambra Group of Lugo Caravan in Peabody. She devoted most of her time to her family. She is survived two two sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Susan Clee of Greenville, SC., and Philip and Patti Cottone of Middleton, MA, two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Darwin Machaelis of Wisconsin and Virginia and Donato Di Cesare of Quincy, a brother and sister-in-law, Carmen and Gloria Damico of Maine, a sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Nich Pathiakis of Haverhill, 8 grandchildren, Nicole, Breanna and Mario Cottone of Middleton, Danielle Murphy of Peabody,and Christopher, William, Erica and Robert Clee of So Carolina and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Cerullo, Josephione Cuillo and Adelle Damico. A Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the new 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’s Church, West Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
