Obituary of Edward F. Philpott
Edward F. Red Philpott, 80, of Lynnfield, died
Wednesday at the Union Hospital, Lynn after a long illness. He was the husband of the
late Louise (Meaney) Philpott who died last year.
He was born in Swampscott on July 19, 1923, the son of the late Edward and Estelle
(Grindrod) Philpott and was raised in Lynn graduating from Lynn Classical High School and had been a resident of Lynnfield for the past 35 years.
He then entered the US Navy during WW 11 where he was a naval aviator,
Following his discharge in 1946, he enrolled in Northeastern University receiving a
Degree in Engineering.
He started working at the General Electric Co., Lynn where
He was employed for 40 years in the advanced Engine Proposal department as a
Manager before retiring in 1983.
He was an avid golfer and was a charter member of the Thomson Country Club
In No. Reading where he served as a director for many years.
He is survived by a sister, Lois Russell of Stoneham, a sister-in-law,
Patricia Philpott of Magnolia, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard Philpott.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in
Our Lady of Assumption Church, Lynnfield at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
Visiting hours on Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Relatives and friends
