Obituary of Ronald A. Greenland
Ronald A Greenland, 92, of Peabody, died Friday afternoon with his family by his side at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Ruth E (Noble) Greenland with whom he shared over 67 years of marriage. Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Arthur and Irene (Cave) Greenland. He was raised and educated in Arlington and upon marrying his wife Ruth, has lived in Peabody for the past 67 years. Following his graduation from high school, Ronald enlisted with the United States Navy. He served in the Pacific and the battle of Okinawa during World War II. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he was recalled during the Korean War and served and additional two years until 1952. Ronald was employed as service manager for many years in Arlington and Beverly until his retirement. He worked an additional 15 years following that as a salesman in the tool department at Sears in Peabody. Ronald enjoyed the outdoors, boating, fishing, skiing, and riding his tractor, doing yard work and shoveling. An all-around handyman who could fix just anything that needed repairing. Besides his loving wife, Ronald is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Jeanne Greenland of Kensington, NH, his daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Jim Black of Kennebunkport, ME, his beloved grandchildren, Abby and Todd Robbins, Jeff Greenland, Stacey and Nate Brungot, and Andrew and Emma Black, his 7 great grandchildren, Olivia, Mason, Addison, Finley, Ainsley, Jude, and Layla and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Raymond Greenland and Florence Cascone. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 10 am to 12 pm followed by his Funeral Service at 12pm at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St, Peabody.
