Obituary of Barbara M (Quinlan) Dumas

Barbara M (Quinlan) Dumas, 86, of Peabody, died Monday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a courageous bout with cancer. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul A. Dumas with whom she shared over 63 years of marriage. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late James and Bridget (McLeod) Quinlan. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1950. Barbara worked as a consumer loan assistant at the former Warren Five Bank in Peabody for over 25 years before retiring in 1994. Barbara enjoyed writing poetry, harmonizing, dancing, and spending time at the beach. Her greatest joy was all the lasting friendships she and Paul made over the years and her favorite endeavor was spending time with her family and sharing in all of their activities. She will be dearly missed by all. Barbara is survived by her five sons and one daughter and their spouses, Joseph and Pamela, John and Ellen, James and Patti, Edward and Joanne, Thomas Dumas and Heather Hovley, and by Mary and David Ditty, her sister, Margaret Church, and by her beloved 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings James and William Quinlan, and Eileen Arrington. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM starting at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
