Obituary of Carl B. Melville
Carl B. Melville 80, of Peabody, husband of the late Carol Ann (Dudley) Melville, passed away unexpectedly at the NSMC Union on Monday, February 11, 2019. Carl was born in Lynn on January 17, 1939, the son of the late Maxwell and Lena (Kowalski) Melville. Raised and educated in Peabody he graduated from Peabody High Scholl in 1957. Following his graduation, he enlisted into the Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. In 1967, Carl joined the Peabody Fire Department as fire fighter a position he held until his retirement in 1998. During his tenure with the Fire Department, he also owned and operated Carl’s Window Washing Company in Peabody. Carl dedicated his life to his entire family and entertaining everyone with his stories, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed horse racing. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Torigian Family YMCA. Carl is survived by his son, Robert Melville and his fiancée Michelle of Peabody; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and David Jordan of Peabody, and Laurie and David Strangie of FL; his cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Robert Melville, Elisha Melville, Ryan and Marianna Melville, Kaylan Melville, Kyle and Hollie Jordan, Craig Jordan and Cory Jordan; a brother, William “Bill” Melville of NH; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Melville, and a daughter-in-law, Carol Melville both of Peabody, many nieces, nephews, friends and his loyal companion Molly. He was also predeceased by his son Richard Melville in 2011. Carl’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, February 15th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. from the funeral home on Saturday, February 16th followed by his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St, Peabody. In lieu of flowers the family requested that memorial donations be to the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org 200 Cochituate Rd., #201, Framingham MA 01701.
