Obituary of David A. Broughton
David A. Broughton, 77 PEABODY – David A. Broughton, 78, beloved husband of Andrea (Bray) Broughton, died peacefully late Tuesday February 19, 2019 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, while in the comforting presence of family, following an extended illness. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Ralph D. and Elvira (Belcher) Broughton. He was a lifelong resident of the city, and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1957. Mr. Broughton’s career started as a Route Driver for Nissen Bakery of Lynn, Medford, and Lawrence. He was promoted up to a Supervisor/General Manager of several branch offices before retiring from Nissen. In his “retirement,” he started his second career as a Bus Driver with Boston Coach serving the Boston College community, and a Shuttle Driver with Fidelity Investments of Boston, a job he loved and which he held for nearly 20 years before retiring, again, in his 70’s. Dave was a sports enthusiast, especially hockey and played at Peabody High School. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play many different sports over the years, and was known to rarely miss a game. He enjoyed golfing, and in retirement, he and Andrea enjoyed traveling extensively with longtime friends and making new friends at each destination.He was most passionate about spending time with family and friends, much of the time in Alton Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife Andrea (Bray) Broughton of Peabody, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage; two sons Rick Broughton of Peabody and Chris Broughton and his wife Lisa of Ann Arbor, MI; a daughter Diane Broughton of Salem; three grandchildren, William Broughton and his wife Clara, Alana Broughton, and Colm Broughton-Jong; a brother Ralph Broughton of Peabody, and two nephews. He was father of the late Douglas Broughton. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Monday February 25, 2019 at 9:30 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 – 7 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
