Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Lewis
Mary Elizabeth Lewis, of Salem, died Saturday March 2 at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Constance (Saints) Lewis. She was a life-long resident of Salem and a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1942. Mary was employed as a clerk with the registry of motor vehicles in both Boston and Beverly and retired in 1986. Following her retirement, she volunteered at North Shore Music Theatre from 1987 – 1997, was a patron member of the Air Force Association for 20 years and also volunteered at the former Lynn Hospital Auxiliary as well. Mary was a world traveler and would often travel to China, Japan, Italy, Spain and Portugal and Hawaii as well, and also, she enjoyed Ball Room Dancing. Mary is survived by her nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Manuel and Frank Lewis, and her sisters, Melinda Mello, Evelyn Nabozny, Ida Longeway and Julie Linehan. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. F
