Obituary of Ramiro G. Correia
Ramiro G. Correia, 88, of Peabody, passed away Saturday evening at his residence, surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of the late Maria Alda Correia, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Ramiro was born in Madeira, Portugal, on November 18, 1930, son of the late Manuel and Elisa (Fernandes) Correia. He was raised and educated there, before moving to the United States in 1950. Prior to retiring, he worked as a carpenter for the Carpenter’s union. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, loved to tell stories and enjoying a good cup of coffee. He is survived by his children and their spouses Susan and Mark Collins of Dover NH, Sharlene and Stephan Shalkoski of Peabody, Stephen Correia of Lowell and Filomena and Bob Morton of Peabody; a sister, Elisa Medeiros, 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by two sons, Ramiro and Gregorio Correia, and his siblings. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, from 9-11:00.M, at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30A.M. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
