Obituary of Anthony F. "Tony" Sorrento

Anthony F “Tony” Sorrento, 85, of Peabody, died early Wednesday morning at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Margaret (Reuter) Sorrento. Born in Everett, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Jennie (Bernard) Sorrento. He was raised and educated in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School, class of 1952. He has lived in Peabody for the past 55 years Upon his graduation from high school, Tony enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. Tony was first employed as a meat cutter for TF Kinneally in Boston for 15 years and later was a salesman in the auto industry and retired as a real estate broker in the greater Salem area. Tony enjoyed coaching sports, especially hockey and he also taught horse back riding as well. While in high school, he excelled on the football and baseball fields. Tony is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl Mullen of Peabody and Susan Sorrento Martin of Marblehead, his son Paul Sorrento of Seattle, WA, his four beloved grandchildren, Olivia and Jarrod Mullen and Ashton and Arabella Sorrento, and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Patrick, Andrew, Frank, Joseph, and Nicholas Sorrento, Antonette Iunnels, Rose Cheffro, and Carmella Sarakoff. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM followed by his Funeral Service at 12:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
