Obituary of Maria Santos

Maria Santos, 89, of Peabody, passed away Wednesday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Armandino Santos, who passed away in 2005. Maria was born in Graciosa, Azores, on April 30, 1929, daughter of the late Joao and Maria Rosa. She was raised and educated there, before emigrating to the United States. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a laborer for P.J. Clayman in Salem. She was communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody She enjoyed crocheting, cooking a variety of Portuguese foods, but most importantly, being surrounded by her loving family, especially taking care of the younger ones. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mario & Lynda Santos of Peabody, Fatima Nunes & Manuel of Peabody, and Maria G. Santos of Peabody; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Manuel Santos, and her siblings. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 18, from from 9- 10:30A.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a funeral mass at 11A.M. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave. Peabody, MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
