Obituary of Laudelina M Santos
Laudelina M Santos, 77, of Peabody, died Sunday morning at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of Manuel Santos with whom she shared over 54 years of marriage. Born in Vitoria, Graciosa-Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late André and Conceicão (Cunha) Silva. She was raised in Portugal and later immigrated to the United States in 1962 and has lived in Peabody for the past 56 years. Laudelina worked as a stitcher for over 20 years at Duchess Footwear in Salem and then for Fishery Products in Danvers for 3 years before finally retiring. Upon her retirement, she raised her grandson Manny from age 1 and her granddaughter Jessica like her own children and how her bond with these 2 grandchildren was truly special She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and growing her own grapes and especially enjoyed sharing her garden vegetables with neighbors, family, and friends. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and the Azorean Brotherhood of the Divine Holy Ghost. She was a loving mother and grandmother, always willing to help out and she never made herself first. Her contagious smile and gentle demeanor will leave an impact on the people that knew her. Her heart was always in the right place The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hathorne Hill in Danvers for their professionalism, kindness, caring and compassion for the past 4 years. They are truly thankful and appreciative of all your support and comfort. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her children, Cynthia Pigott of Peabody, Daniel Santos of Oklahoma, and Diane and her husband Jay Sabino of Salisbury, her siblings and their spouses, Manuel and Vitalina DaSilva of Peabody, Delmiro and Urbina Silva of Canada, Alaide Picanco of Salem, Norberto and Gilda Silva , and Albertino and Debbie Silva, and Lucio Silva, all of Peabody, her beloved five grandchildren, Manny DaRocha of Boston, Jessica and Michael DoCanto, both of Peabody, Diane DoCanto of Revere, and Ashley Sabino of Salisbury, and is also survived by 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 8:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Walsh Ave, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
