Obituary of Robert A McDonald

Danvers, December 26, 2003. Robert A. McDonald, 75, of Danvers, died unexpectedly late Friday evening at the Lahey Clinic, Peabody after being stricken at home. He was the beloved husband of Gloria (Thompson) McDonald with whom he shared over 47 years of marriage. Born in Salem on July 25, 1928, he was the son of the late Raymond and Helen (Drabinovich) McDonald. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1946. He has been a resident of Danvers for the past 47 years. He was a veteran of the United States Marines who served as a recruiter between 1946 and 1950. He later worked in the leather industry for 40 years as a suede leather buffer for Fermon Leather in Peabody until his retirement in 1990. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed fishing, football, and golfing, and was former member of the Cape Ann Golf Course. Besides his loving wife he is survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bruce and Lynne Thompson of Nashville, TN, a mother-in-law, Cecile Thompson of Rochester, New Hampshire and several other relatives. He was the brother of the late Raymond H. McDonald. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 Until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at a TBA on Tuesday.
