Obituary of Stasia A. Archis
Stasia A. Archis, 87, of Peabody, passed away Friday evening at the Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, following a lengthy illness. Stasia was born on August 11, 1931, in Chelsea, daughter of Polish immigrants, Felix and Helen (Brodzyck) Kurpieski. She was raised and educated there, before making Peabody her home. Stasia’s work ethic was notable. She had a long career as a bookkeeper; continuing work as a nanny for another 25 years after retirement. Caring for children was something she truly cherished and took pride in. She also had a 40-year tax preparation business. She was an active member of the Polish Community, where she sang in the choirs of area Polish churches, often solo. Her proudest moment was when, in 1976, she sang for then-Cardinal Karol Wojtyla upon his visit to the United States (he would be elected pope in 1978, taking the name Pope John Paul II.) Her photograph standing next to him was a precious memento she took everywhere. Stasia will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Larry Archis of MD, Catherine Archis of Peabody, Christopher Archis of NC, Paul Archis of Peabody; her grandchildren, Brian, Matthew, Nicholas, Jennifer, and Jessica; a great-granddaughter, Emma; many loving nieces and nephews; the children of the Luna and Moffey families, for whom she cared - Joey and Angela Luna, and Hannah and Carly Moffey. She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She was also the former wife of the late Ronald Archis. A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019, from 4 – 8P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Friends and family will meet at the funeral home Saturday, March 30, at 10A.M. followed by a funeral mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody at 11A.M. An interment ceremony will be held at a later date.
